Awareness & Support

Human Trafficking

Understanding exploitation, recognizing the signs, and knowing how to help.

What Is Human Trafficking?

Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery in which people are exploited through force, fraud, or coercion for labor or commercial sex. It is one of the most serious human rights violations in the world — and it happens in every state, including Florida.

Florida consistently ranks among the top states for reported human trafficking cases. Traffickers target vulnerable individuals — including runaways, foster youth, people experiencing homelessness, and those with histories of trauma or abuse.

Human trafficking does not always look like what you see in movies. It often involves manipulation, psychological control, and exploitation of trust — not always physical restraint or kidnapping.
